You can sleep in your hair systems – their is no need to that the system off each night

Human systems are the premier choice if you want adaptability and luxury. Human hair is soft to the touch and can be styled endless ways.  As time goes on, there will be daily wear and tear to your system just like wearing the same garment all day, every day. This is why it is so important to take care of your hair system properly.

Wash your hair system at least once a week (but not more than two times) with shampoo. Most shampoos are formulated to remove oils from the scalp (which would dry out a hair system). So we recommend shampoos formulated for dry, colored or permed hair. We encourage you to purchase salon brand moisturizing shampoos (from any salon or salon supply store) that are infused with vitamins & herbs and that have a low ph-balance. Normal healthy hair has a ph-balance of 4.5-5.5, so purchase a shampoo that’s within that range or a little below it.

1. Brush out any tangles gently before wetting the hair. Use a wide-toothed comb or vent brush (smooth and with no sharp edges), starting at the tips and gradually working up the hair length to the crown.

2. Wash the inside of the cap using a small amount of anti-bacterial liquid soap or shampoo, and rinse off (Just wiping with water alone will not remove perspiration oil and odor may result).

3. Take the hair system off your head; add a capful of shampoo to a sink of luke-warm water. While holding the top of the cap with one hand, immerse the hair system into the water, and gently glide your fingers through the hair, from root to tip to cleanse it. Do not soak your hair system in a basin. This will cause the hair to tangle and mat together. Rinse with cold water to remove shampoos. Rinse so that the water is flowing in the same direction as the hair (a hand shower is perfect for this).

4. Squeeze the hair (not the cap) in a towel to remove excess water and apply conditioner (if the hair is saturated with water, it can not absorb the conditioner). Spread the conditioner down the hair length with your fingers and gently squeeze through the hair. Use a wide-toothed comb to gently work the conditioner through, leaving it on for two to five minutes no longer.

5. Rinse out under running water thoroughly and lightly wrap your hair system with a thick towel to drain off excess water. Be sure you do not rub the hair or base cap with the towel as it risks for hair breakage.

6. After washing your hair, allow it to air-dry so the hair will stay smooth & manageable. Blow drying the hair will make it frizz and feel hard & stiff. If you must use a hairdryer, use only warm (never hot!) settings.

7. To avoid stretching the cap, never place a wet wig on a mannequin or Styrofoam head. A folding wig stands or tall can of hairspray make the best drying platforms. Add a light hair moisturizer or leave-in conditioner and finger comb throughout the hair. Allow the hair to dry before styling & attaching to your head.

8. Make sure your hair is completely dry before combing or brushing. If the hair is not completely dry, combing loosens the knots.

9. To prevent hair shedding, do not apply oils or conditioners close to the base of the hairsystem where the knots are. This can cause the knots to loosen and slip when brushing or combing the hair.

10. Do not use products that contain alcohol. These may dry out your hair and damage the delicate structure of the cuticles.

11. Do not use too much hair products. Excessive use of oils, mousse, gels and other hair products will be cause of the hair to tangle. This will make the hair look unclean, limp and dull.

12. Pay special attention that you add a little extra leave-in conditioner to the ends of the hair. Sometimes you cannot save the ends, and it’s best to clip or trim the ends off. Cut off the dry, split ends before they split all the way up and cause horrific tangles.

13. Do not wear hair down in hot humid weather or very cold temperatures. Spritz on some extra leave-in conditioner and wear protective styles by putting your hair in a bun or ponytail.

14. Do not go swimming without protecting your hair. To prevent tangles, it’s best to wear a swimming cap so your hair system will not get too much chlorine from a swimming pool or salt water from the beach. Before getting into the water, add a leave-in conditioner and leave hair down. Do not braid hair or wear a ponytail because those styles tend to trap excess chlorine & salt water.

15. Do not sleep frequently with a hair system; it can cause of hair breakage. Rubbing your head against a car headrest can also cause of hair breakage.

16. In case if you need to go to bed with hair, add leave-in conditioner and finger comb or use a wide-toothed comb to work out any tangles. Also, wrap your wig with a silk or satin scarf. Or sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase so your hair will rub against something smooth.

17. As part of your morning routine, we recommend using water spray bottle to slightly dampen the hair before styling (but not close to the knot). That will soften and reactive any styling products used the day before, avoiding combing stress on the hair and giving your hair a fresh look for the day.
